Literacy: We continue to practice reading and writing words containing short and long vowels and diagraphs. We also reviewed the letters R - V. We have made a lot of progress with our sight words - please keep practicing these at home! New sight words: where, from

Literature we read: The Most Magnificent Thing, Listen, Buddy!, Big Feelings, A Bad Case of the Stripes, Dolphins and Calves, The Supersmart Dolphin
Math: We worked with partner numbers to ten and practiced making teen numbers. The children each made a "teen numbers" book with numbers 11 - 20. We also practiced our addition skills using dominos and our subtraction skills playing the "Lucky Duck" dice game.
Science: We love learning about ocean animals! This week we learned all about dolphins. We read several books about dolphins and watched a video about them as well. We learned about what it means to be a mammal, and that dolphins are mammals just like us. We also learned that they cannot breathe underwater, but must come up for air and breathe our of their "blowhole". We then wrote down some of the interesting facts we learned. Next week we will learn about Sea Turtles!
Religion: This week we talked about the Rosary. We also talked about May being the month that honors Mary, our mother in heaven. We have been praying the Hail Mary every day.
Counting to 100: 9 of us can count all the way to 100 by ourselves. Only 1 more to go!
Shoe Tying: 9 of us are in the Shoe Tying Club with Mrs. Hughes. Only 1 more to go!
Other skills: We continue to practice our phone numbers, addresses, and naming the days of the week in order.
Please continue to read with your child at home. Board games and card games are great ways to practice math skills.
Challenge Math Challenge Math is always optional and builds upon the skills we have worked on in class. Packets are sent home in your child’s folder on Fridays.
