HOMEROOM & RELIGION NEWS:
5/16: Please check for missing assignments and turn those in!
5/2: Great discussion today; keep talking with mom/dad about issues of 'growing in love.'
4/30: Remember that we will begin our day at the LC tomorrow!
4/27: Students may bring their own rosary for Tuesday's living rosary at the LC.
4/26: It's a miracle we made it through the video with no problems! May want to have 'the talk' with your student; ask them if they have any questions about the procreation process.
4/25: We discussed how to say the rosary today and used rosaries to aide us. Did you give your student permission to view "Miracle of Life?"
Service Verification Slip11-12-1-1.doc We talked about jobs that are expected as a family DO NOT count. Think of helping at a food shelf, an elderly neighbor, etc. Questions? Direct them my way.
6th GRADE COMMUNICATIONS:
5/16: If you did not hand in a hard copy of your essay, make sure you have shared it with me via google.docs.
5/15: Sorry that I couldn't be with you yesterday; good work for our substitute! Tomorrow your final essay is due!
5/11: Hope you got a good amount of work done on your essay in the computer lab today! The final is due Wednesday.
5/10: Thank you for a great day for Mrs. Kelley while I attended a funeral. Pick one of the choices to create an essay for Wednesday.
5/08: We reviewed compound-complex sentences today; review your worksheets and make any corrections and hand in tomorrow. Bring your book to class tomorrow.
5/04: I missed you today!
5/03: We read "State of Affairs" today and had a great shared inquiry discussion today.
5/02: We read "The Lawyer & the Ghost" and "The Wounded Wolf" today.
5/01: If you needed more time to work on your sentence handout bring them completed tomorrow.
4/30: Complete the worksheets on compound-complex sentences; write 2 compound, 2 complex, and 2 compound-complex sentences of your own on the back.
4/27: Spelling test will be on Monday!
4/26: We began reading "Overdoing It" today and will finish tomorrow.
4/25: We read "Becky and Wheels-and-Brake Boys" today and discussed conflicts. Finish the second side of the hot pink worksheet on independent clauses for tomorrow.
4/24: Complete the side of the worksheet on clauses for tomorrow. Spelling pretest words: plagued, ravaged, tyrant, reflecting, craned, foresee, veranda, menace, reckless, prolonged, emaciated, wry, emerged, meditated, surface, necklace. Based on your pretest create a list of 10 words for your spelling test on Friday.
7th GRADE COMMUNICATIONS:
5/16: We will finish "Dying to Live" tomorrow.
5/15: Group commentary response is due tomorrow; classic book project is due Friday!
5/11: Pick a topic for your persuasive essay, create a thesis statement, and list some gut knowledge regarding your reasons. We will have the laptops on Monday to begin research.
5/10: Continue to work on your group commentary via google.docs; this will be due on Tuesday.You will have time in Spanish lab tomorrow to work on this with the computers.
5/08: We discussed stereotypes and myths around the issue of immigration; keep the dialogue up at home! Tomorrow students will work as table groups on a commentary response to an essay.
5/04: Read the rest of La Linea for Tuesday.
5/03: Great work on creating reasons for arguments today!
5/02: Read ch. 11-20 in La Linea for Friday.
5/01: We did a desert survival activity today; tomorrow we will finish the expert ranking. We will also discuss ch. 1-10 in La Linea.
4/30: Read ch. 1-10 (p. 1-32) in La Linea for Wednesday. We will due our spelling test from last week tomorrow.
4/27: I know some of you have been having problems recording a poem on your glog; I will make that extra credit.
4/26: Spelling test will be on Monday. Glogs due Friday by 11:59 p.m.!
4/25: Students took the poetry quest today. New classic book project due date is May 18. Poetry glogs due by midnight on Friday.
4/24: Review the poetry study guide for tomorrow. Come to the Poetry OutLoud (Slam) tonight; come anytime between 6:30-8:30. Bring a poem to read!
4/23: Pretest on spelling words - poetry themed. We will test out on poetry on Wednesday; a study guide was handed out today. Have your poetry glog finished and published by Friday night.
4/20: Write a free verse poem on one minute in time using onomatopoeia.
4/19: Your poetry glog should have 5 of the poems you have written for class; we will create one more in class tomorrow which you will add to your glog which makes a total of 6. Remember to also record a published poem on your glog as well.
4/18: Work on poetry glogs continued in class today. Pick a poem to record yourself reciting on your glog.
4/17: Are you caught up on all the poetry you have been asked to write? You are getting points for these! Pick a piece for Poetry OutLoud night or pick a piece written by a poet to read for extra credit on Tuesday!
4/16: We read lyric poetry today and poetry using sound devices. Tomorrow you will work on your poetry glog!
4/13: Create a syllable cinquain and a limerick using the worksheet as your guide.
4/11: Complete the scansion of Annabel Lee and create an iambic pentameter poem for Friday (see handout).
