BAND WELCOME BACK!
I hope you had a Great Summer! If you are in the 4th Grade (or older), and would like to sign up for Beginning Band, you may sign-up at the Open House on Thursday, August 26th.
Come and see me at the Band table. When signing up for Beginning Band, prior music playing/reading is not required (although always encouraged). There are several types of band instruments that are taught. The choices include: Flute, Clarinet, Oboe, Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone/Baritone and Tuba.
When signing up for Beginning Band it is important to have a 2nd choice. Sometimes an instrument group is full or the instrument is inappropriate for that student. My suggestion would be to look at several different types of instruments in advance, have a 1st choice and then a 2nd.
Groth Music Representatives will be at the table with me and you may get an instrument/book from them, after seeing me.
If you miss me at sign-up, don't panic. You can come visit me during the 1st week of school. Also, please don't feel the need to "rush" the table. Groth Music will have extra people on hand.
Concert Band students may just "drop off" their sheets either with me, or with Jeanne. Beginning Band students who have demonstrated their playing proficiency and have passed into Concert Band, should sign up for Concert Band. Beginning Band students who have not fully demonstrated their playing proficiency yet, should sign up again for Beginning Band and continue to develop their skills, until they have demonstrated Mastery of their instrument sufficient for entrance into Concert Band.
The 1st day of Beginning and Concert Band will be Tuesday, September 7th. Concert Band students should review all of the Major scales and be ready to go!
See you Thursday!
