Studying Hard
Progress reports are available online after 5:00 P.M. today to view with your child. Please take some time to go over the information on the report with your fourth grader. If you have noticed a drop in your child's effort, please discuss the importance of giving their all in class and on assignments.
This week we will take our long division test in math on Wednesday, February 1. When this unit is complete we will be moving into our two units on measurement. Please make sure your child has a ruler at school. We will be doing many hands on activities with the customary and metric systems!!!
I handed out the directions for the Unit 2 Assessment in social studies. Instead of a test for the two chapters in this unit, the students are to choose one of the activities and complete a rough draft and a final draft. The due date for both is February 10. This is worth the equivalent of two tests, so it should take some time to complete and should be the student's best work
Celebrate....
Catholic Schools Week is this week! In today's Friday Folder there is information regarding the planned activities for each day. Also, please mark your calendars to attend the kick-off Mass at St. Thomas the Apostle on Sunday, January 29 at 11:00 A.M.
Other Things
On Thursday, February 2 we will go through chapter 2 of our Growing In Love curriculum. You should be getting the at home books very soon. The students and I had some great discussions during chapter 1 about abilities and disabilities. I look forward to our next discussion.
We are also in need of Kleenex in room 102!!! Please send in a box with your fourth grader to replenish our supply.
On Friday afternoon the lower campus students will be joining us for Mass at 1:15. We will follow that with an afternoon of activities at the upper campus. Students will all be dismissed from the upper campus at our normal dismissal times.
Reminder!
Now that the weather is getting cooler, please send in a jacket and other appropriate weather gear with your child. We will go outside for recess unless the weather is not safe to be in. Please make sure your child has a water bottle with a top at school. They miss a lot of classroom instruction and work time when they need to constantly leave for drinks from the hallway fountain.
