Studying Hard!
In Math, we are continuing our work on our "long division" chapter. It was a struggle at first, but it seems as though all of our practice and hard work are paying off. The 4th graders are finding it to be easier and easier with each day! To help them out, please make sure you are reviewing the basic multiplication AND division facts with your child at home, as it will make this division process that much easier. Thank you so much! In social studies, we are finishing up with the Eastern Region and will be moving on to the South in the next week. The 4th graders are to be working on their East (Unit 2) Assessment project at home. This will be taking the place of a East Chapter test. These projects will be due Friday, February 10th. The directions were handed out to the 4th graders prior to Christmas vacation, so please let me know as soon as possible if you need another copy. Thank you very much.
In communications, the 4th graders have been working very hard on a partner project that coincides with some stories from our textbook. They have been reading and summarizing each of the stories, and then creating an amazing project that has been assigned to that particular story. We have started presenting their work, and the creativity and hard work is just awesome to see!!!! Ask them to explain to you what they have done with their partner!
Other Things...
We have begun presenting our Special Project "Filmstrips" to our classmates this week!!! The projects all look simply amazing and the 4th graders are getting better and better at presenting to one another. They ask and answer intelligent and thoughtful questions and do such a great job listening to each other's work. These will be hanging up in our rooms for awhile, and our February Special Project will be assigned next week.
If anyone is interested in purchasing the red wristbands in support of our dear friend and CCS graduate, Jack Jablonski, they are now available. They are $2 each. Please send in your money if you would like to purchase one. We also have our Jug For Jabby in our classroom for anyone who would like to donate!!! Any bit will help as we try to give the family as much as we can!
Celebrate!
It's that time of year again.....Catholic Schools' Week! It is our special week to celebrate our school and all that we stand for and represent. Of course, there is a lot of FUN planned, including out of uniform days. Please look for the information to go home in Friday's Folder.
Reminder!
Also, please make sure you are going through and emptying out your child's Friday Folder each week! There are many important pieces of information for you to be aware of. Thank you!
Please make sure your child is dressed for the weather!!! We are now experiencing some cold days where wind chill is becoming a factor, and many fourth graders are not dressed appropriately for outdoor recess. Make sure they have coats, hats, mittens, gloves, scarves, boots, etc! Thank you very much.
Looking Ahead...
Second Quarter Progress Reports will be available for you to view on Friday, January 27th after 5:00 pm. Please take some time to look these over with your fabulous 4th graders and celebrate their accomplishments. It is hard to believe that we are now over half-way done with 4th grade! But, as time flies by us, we keep pushing ourselves to work even harder than the day before and to remember that hard work really does pay off!
