What we've learned this week...

Literacy- spelling the vowel sound long o using silent -e, spelling long o without a 2nd vowel (as in -old) and long i without a 2nd vowel (as in -ind), sorting words into groups, identifying key words in non-fiction

Math- Ch.10: measuring with inches and centimeters, recording measurements on a table, measuring sides of a shape

Religion- The Rosary: reciting the Hail Mary & Glory Be, learning about the Glorious Mysteries, using rosary beads to pray

Science- observing the changes in the life cycle of a seed and record the changes in many ways (on a calendar, on a graph, in a journal); presenting ocean animal reports


News & Reminders
 05/04/2012

  • Mark your calendars- our class play and Teddy Bear Lunch will be on Friday, May 25th. The picnic will be at Beard's Plaisance on Lake Harriet from 12-1, and the plays will most likely begin around 11:30 (I'll have a more accurate time after we rehearse).
  • field trips- We have two upcoming field trips. Thanks to everyone for sending the permission slips in so quickly. I was also pleasantly swamped with offers to help chaperone. Unfortunately, we don't have very many spot for chaperones. If you were chosen to come along and can't please let me know ASAP.

  • volunteers needed: If you really wanted to hang out with your kiddo sometime before the end of the year, but couldn't chaperone, don't worry- we still need help! Next Wed. (5/9), we will celebrate our Shark Week with a special art project. I need 2 parent helpers to assist. If you are available for an hour in the AM (10 to 11 is preferred, but we're flexible). Please let me know!
  • faculty/student basketball game: Join me on Thursday 5/17 @ 5:00 for our annual Faculty/Student basketball game. Whether you're cheering the teachers or the 8th graders, I hope to see you there!
