*February is "I Love To Read Month."  A calendar went home on Friday, January 27th with dates that people signed up. We look forward to having you visit our classroom from 10:45 to 11:00, with a picture book!  Thanks!

*Planners!!!  The children have been so excited with their new responsibility.  Please check the planner every day and sign it in the yellow box next to the corresponding day.  You can also communicate with me in the planner! We will not send the planner home on Fridays.  Thanks!

Religion:
We learned about Reconciliation and forgiveness.  We also discussed Baptism and being a part of the church family.  We quizzed yesterday.

Communications:
This week we read, The Day Jimmy's Boa Ate the Laundry.  We read this story together and partner read it it.  We learned about cause and effect, pronouns, dipthongs, and fantasy stories.
We began to work on research paragraphs on Thursday.  We will be researching non-fiction topics here at school.  The children do not have to do anything at home unless they want to find more information there.  They can bring in books to help them out.  The children are quite excited to read up on some of his or her favorite things.  Ask you child what they are researching!

Spelling Skill of the Week:
ll, ss, ff words
We will test for our skill on Monday mornings.  There will be ten words  and two sentences that the children have been exposed to in the prior week.  They are ready!
Next week

Math: We tested on chapter six today about time.  Our next unit will be on graphs.
We began our mini-unit on Time.  We are concentrating on telling time on analog and digital clocks.  We are also trying to tell time by the minute.  We are learning about minutes before the hour or after the hour such as in 2:25 or twenty-five minutes after 2.  We will also be learning about reading a calendar.
We began Xtra math in our classroom.  You can do it at home too!  A letter went home in the BGE's today with a code for your child.  You can moniter his or her progress and join in at home.  Xtra math helps us with our adding and subracting skills just like our minute math.  The kids LOVE it.   Awesome!

Social Studies/Social Skills:  We are learning about countries.

Art:   We made compliment hearts yesterday.  They look so pretty in the hallway!
